The pads are closed on one side. A small vent is created, positioned upwards if argon is used and downwards if formier is used for gas shielding.
Turn the smooth side towards the weld. This ensures that the oxygen in the gap is quickly expelled with as little gas as possible.
The weld will therefore be completely smooth.
